Christians in Lebanon who follow the Western calendar celebrated Palm Sunday. This celebration came amid the sound of Israeli shelling and aircraft in some villages. For the first time since the beginning of the aggression on Lebanon, an airstrike targeted the town of Sawiriya in the Western Bekaa, while drones flew extensively in the region. A car at the site was burned as a result of the strike, leading to the injury of a person of Syrian nationality. Meanwhile, Hezbollah announced targeting Israeli army positions and causing direct injuries.
Regionally, the Israeli war on Gaza entered its 170th day, with the Israeli army continuing to invade Al-Shifa Hospital for the seventh consecutive day and also beginning to invade two other hospitals, Al-Amal Hospital in Khan Yunis and Al-Nasr Hospital in Gaza City.
Politically, Israels response presented to mediators regarding a ceasefire in Gaza was negative, including a rejection of stopping the war, withdrawal of its forces from the sector, and the return of refugees unconditionally. Israel also presented detailed points regarding the prisoner exchange and ceasefire conditions. Hamas responded by describing Israels conditions as very negative and obstructive to an agreement.
In this context, information indicated that the United States presented a new proposal, including Israels commitment not to assassinate senior Hamas leaders if they renounce violence outside the Gaza Strip. Israeli commitment is contingent on an agreement that includes disarming the sector and releasing all prisoners held in Gaza. The American proposal also includes the withdrawal of Israeli army forces from the sector.
Internationally, US Vice President Kamala Harris did not rule out American consequences on Israel if it proceeds with a military incursion into Rafah.
French President Emmanuel Macron warned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that 'any forcible transfer of population from Rafah would constitute a war crime.'
In Russia, a female passenger was arrested at Sheremetyevo Airport in Moscow for reporting a bomb in her bag. A shopping center in St. Petersburg was also evacuated after a bomb threat.
