Israel escalated its aggression today, targeting two strikes, the first hitting the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and the second hitting Hezbollah. In a recurring scene, Israel assassinated an Iranian Revolutionary Guard intelligence official, his deputy, and eight others in a morning strike, destroying an entire building in the Syrian capital, as reported by Iranian media and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. Similarly, in southern Lebanon, an airstrike on a car near Bazouriyeh led to the death of four individuals, including a member of Hezbollah.

In this context, monitoring sources indicate that the upcoming phase will witness more assassinations of figures and leaders outside Palestinian territories to divert attention from the decision to cease or ease hostilities in Gaza. The military deadlock, coupled with increasing Western pressures, especially from the United States, on the Israeli government, amid failures to achieve declared war objectives, particularly against the Hamas movement.

Regarding reactions to the aggression affecting southern Lebanon and Damascus, Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi warned that his country would not leave the strike that resulted in the killing of five Revolutionary Guard advisors in Damascus 'without a response,' describing it as a 'cowardly attack.' Syrias Foreign Ministry, in turn, considered this 'barbaric aggression and massacre in Palestinian territories' as confirming the criminal nature of this entity and its leadership.

Away from the still active southern front with ongoing shelling and counter-responses, political stagnation dominates the internal scene. There is no significant development on the presidential front, except for anticipating the outcome of the hesitant movement led by some political forces, along with expectations related to the Qatari envoy carrying potential initiatives for the 'interrupted' electoral process.

In educational matters, particularly regarding private schools, 'God willing, there wont be a strike,' said the Minister of Education in the caretaker government, Abbas Halabi. He mentioned looking forward to Monday for the signing of the agreement facilitated by the Ministry of Education last week. The expected signing on the previous Thursday was postponed for further consultations within the union of private educational institutions due to significant diversity among them, making it challenging for a single entity to speak on behalf of all.

From Lebanon to New York, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in the caretaker government, Dr. Abdullah Bou Habib, headed today to participate in the ministerial-level session of the UN Security Council on the Middle East situation, scheduled for the upcoming Tuesday. Bou Habib will engage in a series of high-level diplomatic meetings and activities on the sidelines of the session.

As for Gaza, entering its sixth day of war, the Israeli army intensified its military operations in the sector, resulting in approximately 25,000 casualties since the beginning of the conflict, as reported by the latest tally from Hamas.

In response to recent statements by U.S. President Joe Biden regarding the possibility of a Palestinian state, Hamas dismissed it as a 'delusion' not benefitting the Palestinians.

Regionally, more than ten rockets were launched at the Ain al-Assad airbase in Anbar province, where U.S. soldiers and forces from the international coalition against jihadist organizations in western Iraq are stationed, according to Iraqi security sources and a U.S. military official speaking to 'France Presse.' Preliminary information suggests that a member of the Iraqi security forces was seriously injured.

In Yemen, the United States carried out new strikes against the Houthi rebels, stating that it was acting 'in self-defense' against repeated attacks by the Yemeni rebels on commercial ships in a vital maritime area for global trade.

Meanwhile, the Sudanese government decided to freeze the countrys membership in the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), according to a statement from the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Internationally, U.S. Senator Tim Scott, who withdrew from the presidential race, announced his support for Donald Trumps bid for the Republican Partys nomination for another term in the White House.

In the Russo-Ukrainian conflict, the European Union declared that it would significantly increase ammunition production this year in response to Ukraines growing demands for support in its war against Russia. Russia, in turn, summoned the French ambassador to protest the 'growing involvement' of France in the conflict.

In a serious cyber-security incident, hackers affiliated with Russian intelligence penetrated the email messages of top executives at Microsoft, according to a court document filed by the U.S. information technology giant.

In France, three French police officers were sentenced to prison terms ranging from three to twelve months, with suspended sentences, in the Paris region for their use of violence during the arrest of a black youth in 2017.

In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, President Félix Tshisekedi, who won the December elections, took the constitutional oath for a second five-year term amid a tense political and security climate, while the opposition described the elections as 'fraudulent.'

Also internationally, 13 people were killed in a fire that broke out in a dormitory associated with a school in Henan province in central China, as reported by the official Chinese news agency Xinhua, sparking outrage on social media.
