Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Abdullah Bouhabib received the European Union Ambassador, Sandra Dauwald, stressing the need for a new and different approach to addressing the Syrian refugee crisis before its too late. He called for a comprehensive review through dialogue and cooperation with European partners and donor countries in preparation for the upcoming Brussels ministerial conference on Syrian refugees scheduled for the end of May.

Regionally, on the 182nd day of the Israeli war on Gaza, the army intensified its security measures by deploying forces around the Old City of Jerusalem and the gates of Al-Aqsa Mosque. Patrols were conducted, and selective inspections targeting youth specifically were carried out.

Meanwhile, British Foreign Secretary David Cameron warned that Britain 'will hold Israel accountable' for the killing of three Britons among the seven aid workers in Gaza.
